This document consists of a Project 10073 record card and associated teletype correspondence regarding an unidentified aerial phenomenon reported near Rogersville, Tennessee, on June 8, 1954. A 51-year-old civilian witness reported observing a single, egg-shaped object traveling from north to south. The object was described as being approximately 15 feet long with a blue flame extending 40 feet from its rear. The witness reported hearing a 'sizzeling' sound during the five-second observation. The object was observed to fall in a vertical line toward the earth. Military authorities, including the 462nd AISS, investigated the report. Weather conditions at the time were reported as clear with 12 miles of visibility and winds from the east-southeast at 5 knots. A field investigation was conducted, but no tangible evidence of the object was found in the general area. The official conclusion reached by the evaluating agency was that the sighting was a meteor.
