Project 10073 Record — Concord, New Hampshire, 31 May 1954

This document is a Project 10073 record concerning a sighting reported by a civilian witness on May 31, 1954. The witness, writing from Nashua, New Hampshire, on June 4, 1954, addressed the Air Technical Intelligence Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. She reported that at approximately 10:15 AM on the previous Monday, while traveling between Concord and Locumere, New Hampshire, she observed a strange white, elongated object in the sky. The witness described the object as moving at an 'unbelievable' speed, appearing to fall straight down in a vertical path. She noted that the object was very long and narrow and stood out clearly against the dark grayish-blue sky. According to her account, the object was visible for 8 to 10 seconds before it suddenly disappeared. She explicitly stated that it did not fade away or get smaller, but simply vanished while still appearing as a large object. She attempted to point the object out to her husband, but it had already gone by the time he could look up. The official Air Technical Intelligence Center evaluation of the report concluded that the data provided was incomplete and, as such, no definitive conclusion could be reached, resulting in the classification of the sighting as 'UNIDENTIFIED'.
