When Flying Saucers Invaded Prince Rupert

This document recounts a series of unidentified aerial phenomena sightings in Prince Rupert, Canada, during December 1952. The narrative describes two distinct events. The first occurred on December 3, 1952, when at least nine people observed a shiny, spherical object moving across the harbour. The second, more significant event took place approximately one week before Christmas, when hundreds of residents witnessed a group of four or five objects flying in formation. Witnesses, including local business manager Vern Ciccone and post office worker Fred Slade, described the objects as small, round, and shiny on the bottom with a darker top. The objects were observed heading northeast and appeared to veer in their flight path. The sightings were witnessed by a large crowd, with one observer, Hugh Ferguson, noting the event while watching a Canso flying boat. Despite the widespread nature of the sightings, at least one unnamed individual offered a skeptical explanation, suggesting that the phenomena were merely 'cloudlets' formed by rapid condensation in the cold atmosphere. However, this explanation failed to convince those who had witnessed the objects firsthand.
