The object was first seen by my friend while driving t o my place to pick me up. Afte r I got into the c ar, we drov e dmm t o the qui te-frClzen- ov e r swimming beach 't.Jhere we could get a better look at it across the lake to the northeast . We watched it about five mimttes there . It appeared stationary and looked to be the biggest star in the sky. We thought it must be a star, and drove a'!-1ay from the swimming beach, losing s i ght of the object. It was about 30 angle. I first sat.r it while we were driving to the lakes h ore. We come back into the village limits, then the driver turned down the highway going eas t instead of going t o our destination. About one-half mil e east of "\.Talker, we stopped the car on the highwi".y (I noticed all during this time n o other traffic or person s of any kind either in the villag e or on the road) and looked f or the object a gain. We f ound a large lighted objec t , larger this time, high e r in the sky, though it appeared t o b2 stationary. Though the brightness of the object prevented u s from seeing the shape clearly, i we tho \tght thet'e was a vague h ori7.ontal shape right through the center of the I light. It seemed to be tt'anslucent, and we felt it was n o t a star. Possibly 45 . After watching it f or maybe ten minutes in that l ocation, we decided : we were c~e t t ing late and left the r e and drov e back into l>lalker and to our destination, which was in the residential area. I c ould not see the object while we \o~ere driving back, goin g weft and south. There was n o traffic on the hi.ghvay :ts we we r e driving , that c ould see, as I made a mental note of WlH~n we arrived at our destination, I stepped out o f the car first and look~cl \tp into the sky to try t o sight the object again. This titne I saw an objf'.~t, ljOtoewhat brighter and bigger than befor e , and seemingl y h orizontal and tranolucent, but it "t-Tas now hig h in the sky and to the east, or poasi.uly slit~htly southeast, n o t directly overhea<'l, but I had t o look up v et'y high. As soon as I sa"1 it, and befor e anyone cl se got out of the car, I saw it cl~ogP d irections (if in fact it was the same object as the other ) and zip actoRs the sky in t he twinkling of an eye to about a 60 angl e to the n orth and quickly vanish. There was n o n oise, n o tail, n o smoke, and n othing there after it vanished. I c ould n ot estimate the speed, unless it c ould be likened to the speed of lightning . It seemed very far away, and my eyes foll owed it all the way across the sky without losing sight of it, until it vanished. It possibly took about half a sec ond to cross the sky, and the n i t was gone whil e still quite high, about 60. The path was n o t v isible, ivith no line of light, smokr:: or anything else ei.tile~ bei1in,1, oc i n front of it. It sped from south to n orth. It was in the n ortheastern por t of the sky when it vanished. OriN LANGEN 7TH OJSTnl c r .
