Enclosed is a copy of the investigation c onducted by this unit in res~onae to a reported UFO in our area. All available data vas researched andA'included in report. 2. The results ot our 1nvesti1ation, while not s pecificall y identifying the obJect, seem to indicate tbat, due to the nature of the sighting and the information supplied by the informant, turther investigation is unnecessary. The same day Indianapolis ARTCC was contacted concerni ng t he i ncident. The watch supervisor said no unusual air t!'affic was observe d in th~ arf'la the 5th but that it was impossible to det e rMine how much air traffic was i n the area at thr> time. Ohio St at e Patrol said no other reports were r eceived concerning the sighting . personal int erview with thP. witness raised some speculation concerni ng the cre d- ibility of this story as he contradicted himself seve ral ti~e3. Asked if it was his first sight i ng of such an objec said yes but l at er told of a similiar experience i n April of 1968 in th"! same a.r~a which he described as follo\-TS : a black object head- ing towards him at a mod~rate r a t e of speed \-Thi ch when i n coming t o him turned 90 and at the same ti -rte turnnd a bluish-tThite and disapoeared. Originally he indicated that the sky was clear of a ny objects s uch as air t raffic during thP sighting but later said that it wa s a small aircraft flying north i n the area which first dre~., his attention to t he object. IJo scientific or t e ch- APPENDIX I I was heading eas t , object was heading east on cot;nty road 25, object wa.s little bit to the left front of car, could look through \Ti ndshield, front, wi thense, I turned south on county road 9, object still wP.nt straig~ on a head. l:fhen I p3.ssed a house , which was on l eft side of road, I noticed object was now going southerly direction, a nd I could see it with ease through left front door windm.r. :Then I turned onto state road 47 object al s o turned i n dir ecti on I did to~Tnrd Bellefontaine . Object appeared not to make any precise 90 turns. Whe n I got to Hilliruns & Main St . the object took off quickly, straight up lThcn I stopped. Coming to Bellefontaine I could see the object with ease through left fran~ door windo~. I had stopped three t imes and object stopped at same time. Third time I stopped there 1.-TP.ren buildings close by and slight wind. I rolled down \Iindow, thinking it might have been a reflection on wi ndow, but object still appeared i n sky. Object made high pitch humming sound. Object looked round and bluis h- white i n color. I couldn' t tell size, appeared to be about 2 miles from car . At this t ime I was about one mile from state road 47. Sky was clear , I didn' t see any clouds
