Colonel Quintanilla said that if the people from the Smithsonian would write and state that the camera was capable of producing such an image of the moon, he would re-subrnitt the information to the photo-analysis section. Re.t'~rence your unidentified fl.ying obJect photographs of 18 November 1967 ~hieh you submitt~d to the Air Force for analysis. Photo analysis has bef!n accomplished on your six Polaroid ~'Swinger" photographs to determine the identity of the imagEd ~unidentified objects," with the followin~ results. a. Initial revie-w ot' the referenced photography revealed that an "unidentified object'' .. l'las imaged as a spot of light on each of four prints designated by source as 0, i1:2, f/-4, and ,.j5. Source stated that he attamptad to photograph one large and about 12 to 15 snmller objects. The larger object appears on all four prints; ho~ever, only one small object was imaged (print #4). One of the remaining two photographs -was labeled "moon" and the other "star"; the exposures were :na.de by source 1n an attempt to image the moon and a star to compare their brilliance, size and composition to that of the uunidentified objects." b. An attempt '-'8B made to duplicate the star and moon photography with sn identical camera and film. On a night of unlimited visibility a sipgle star or group of stars could not be photographed. A full tnOOD produced only a slight photographic impression. 'I he spot on the tmoon" photo baa very sharp edges and a total lack of density like that or a processing aberation. Furthermore, if the fUll moon could have b~n clearly L~ged th13 camera system could not have produced an i~ge diameter larger than .810 millimeters. The diameter of the pno~g:aphic image measures 1.o8 millimeters. The size and appearance of the spot on the tatar'' print indicate that thi:s image could possibly b@ t.nat of the mooa. c. Source stated that the color of the objects revolvedfrom red to blue. lo all four photograph$ the object must have been in a blue mode because the film used is ''blindn above 650 millimicrons d. A thin black "uhell" encompaseea the obJect on three or the four print, and thia ''shell" is most probably a halo lfhicb ia a no l eftect ~hen photographing a point source or light. On the fourth print (print #2) the object appears to be blurred which could ha reaulted from ca111era vibration~ e. 'lb.e a 1ze ot the obJects could not be detetmined because the to the obJeota is unkno\fDe 2. There ia no indication that the images represent anything of an extraterrestrial origin.
