On 9 No1ember 1967 Lt Dennis Egan and I went to Ne..vfield, N e.v York, a 3mall town 7 miles south of Ithaca, to investig ate a series of UFO sightings. 2. We arrived at 1830 at the \Nari s residence in Newfield. Approxi- mately '25 persons of various ag':!s were present in this lower m iddle class home. Dr. J . Allen Hynek of Northwestern University and an Air Force consultant for Project Blue Book was preaent. He had spoken at Wells College earlier that day and had a gree d to attend. 3. Dr. Hyne~\: open ad the meetin~ by explaining the importance of relating UFO sightings t o tha size of kn0\1111 objects. Also, he gave a quick briefing on light sources. The actual stories bagan with three boys ages 9, 11, a:1d 12 who claim to have seen a large object descend to 35-40 feet near two house3. For almost two minutes tha "saucer-shaped" object made noise. The object had red and white lights around the edge with stran~e markings ajove the lights. The b'Jys saw two large windows through which they ,riewed two "aliens" (as they called them) seated at a l a rge instrument pan,3l. The "aliens'' were about three feet tall, brown in color, and covered with la:-ge bumps on their upper body. The object then ascended very rapidly and was out of s1ght. A similar sighting occurred the fallowing night. Dr. Hyn3k questioned the boys concerning the length of time the object was i n view. The oldest boy said about two minutes because he glanced at his watch whea the object first appeared. Someone in the roo.n asked the boys to act out what actually happened. On the spur o~ the moment they gave what appeared to be a well rehe1rsed performance wh~ch lasted about two minutes. i01.
