Not one had any helicopter activity in the area tho evenings of the sitings. Checked possible private sources, i.e. Oregon Forrestr,y Service, private helicopter firms. Oregon Forrestr.y Service has no choppers and was unable to raise anyone at a private helicopter firm servicing Shell Oil Co. off shore oil drilling rigs. This firm, located at Coos Bay, did not have any choppers in the area according to personnel at Tillamook County Airport. ;..JEA.THim IN AND AROUND TILLAMOOK, OREGON 11/13 HARCH 1967 (Obtained through 25th AJ:r Div t.fe!other Serv.) The enclosed materials are results of an investigation conducted 15 Harch 1967 at TilJrunook, Oregon on UFOs sighted 11 and 13 H:1.rch 1967 in and around Tillamook, Oregon 2. Results of the investigation are somewhat inconclusive. The 689th Radar Sq. tracked a meta lie object judging by strength of radar return, i..ri th quite unusual movement characteristics. The local civil:lans observed red/green/whitish lights tlhich moved in a manner similar to flight o a helicopter or othor hovering type aircraft. No units Oi.ming ,helicopters had any flight in that area those evenings. All sources but one, available to the i nvestigators were checl<:e d out all with ne~tive results. The definite track of the u nlmown by Ift. Hebo radar further complicates any correlAtion with k nrn.rn aircraft since at one point the track moved approximately 9 miles in one minute, from dead ntop to dead stop. F'iguring an average velocity a nd acceleration the object would ha v e had to accelerate to 1200 mph a nd decelerate to 0 within one r~inute, a f eat .f<?r kno\m helicopter type a/c. 3. The enclosed tapes of eye witness reports ware ma de on an ArJA (brand) battery operated portable tape recorder at 3 3/4 IFS, half track. Other materia l j_ncluded shou l d be self explanitory.
