Reference (a), this letter is being sent containing all pertinent information concerning the sighting of tmidentified flying objects on the n:i.ght of 16 Dec 1966. The basic format for the follo~Jing information \-!as taken from CG .. :ELEVENINST 3820.lA of 1 Apr 1958. . 2.. The objects sighted \orere basically round in shape cb out the size of . a pea held at arms length. They appeared bright orange in color. The four objects sighted '.-Jere at too great a distance to distinguish any details; they all appeared cas brie;ht orange balls of lighto No sound was heard and there t7ere no unusaal physical features visible during the entire period of observation. 3. The objects t1ere: firs t not.iced becaus e of their brightness ar.d unusual flight path across the sky. Three of the four objects were first sihted at approximately 60 degrees above the horizon, using our position, 200 yards north of the main gate to USrJAAS Ream Field., as the reference point. The fourth object lras first sighted on the horizon. The first three objects maintained a formation, changing their relative positions to each other as they moved from the East in a t-Iesterly direction. The fourth object remained apart from the other three, travelling initially in a northrr.resterly direction finally turning du.e lTest. All of the objects~ periodically stop~ed and held their positions for ~ maxirrtlli~ time of ~hirty seconds each stop. After a~proximately nine minutes the objects started. to disappearo Firs.t,tHo objects out of the flight of three flick5red. and disappeared, second, the lone object flickered and disa::peared, and finally the third of the flig~t disappeared in the same manner as the other three 4. These observations were. made at 0530 Zulu visually from the groULct.
