One observer state d they ~a paradlute. Contact wa~ made with base operation s to find it was a jet with a~ unusually large streak of fire as a result of his afte:r burne r being ld.cked in. Several calls were received regarding a streak of fire in the sky about 1015 EST 6 Oct. 66. One observer reported that the fire seemed to be following an aircraft. Another reported only the fire was seen. One said that a parachute was seen. Contact was made with the Base Operation~ WP AFB, Ohio at 1105 EST 6 Oct. 66. A F-111 took off from Patterson Field at 1006 EST Oct. 66 and shortly thereafter kicked in hi~ after-burner. They received several calls regarding this incident also. They reported that an unusually large streak of fire was a result of his afterburner being kicked in. CmSCLUSION F-111 with afterburner
