Dee.r Mt;1.jar Quintanilla: In reply to your letter of Aug.4, enclosing four reports on .objects seen night of July 13/14,1966 from the Omama, Neb. area, I have now gone over them carefully. l1y. opinion i s that they refer to t-vro ob- jects, both quite obviously bright meteors i.e. fireballs. first has seven reports for roughly l1.~/o4oo p luo z, the other for 14/-<>Boo z.:.a.nd that Sr!ems e. very quetionableone 8.s to observed data. This last seems quite untrust't'lorthy. As for the other seven, they seem to refer to same object e;o~rouBhlY from SVJ tovre1rds S or SE. The repor~s ure"'nore uncertain tha n usu a l , except for the ex- cessive durations given by five of ~he seven. But if a fireball lasts over 10 seconds, usually peo- ple tend to ey~ggerate the duration. None of t h e objects h ave UFO characteris- i;i o s ; you may sG~ely classify them a s meteors. ~ou 'Hill be e;l ad to knmr tha t I no't-t have the pre- ll::Unary p ath of the April 2.5 fireball. Thank you ; again for your valuable help in that. Sincerely yours, P'm ('1Wl1t) Wrl&ht-Patteraon .A1'B , . Cllio
