Dear tir. and Mrs. -ue~erence is made to your unidentified observati0n on Jane 25, 1966. Contact was made with the Federal Aviation Agency at the Akron-Canton Airport for information regarding the stimulus which you observed on the night of June 25. They referred ou.r office to the Goodyear Rubber Company iD Akron. The FAA informed us that the Goodyear blimp was operating in the Akron area around the latter part of .June. We, in turn, contacted Mr Company who provided the following f the Goodyear informati~n: an June 25, the Goodyear blimp was fl.ying in the Akron area betwee n 9:00 -11:30 EDT. The blimp has the normal running lights that are re'luir e d o y 1;he F .. \A, and in addition had attached to its side a multicol o r e d advertising sign that measured 100 feet long by 14 feet . ~e were puzzled that such a craft '.vould be fl~ing at night, but the blimp was in the air until 11:30 that night. On June 25th (Saturday) the Medina County area. at a steady speed o f 70 my husband and I were traveling It was between 10:00 and 11:00 MPH. It was a clear warm night North on Route 21, in PM and we were traveling and the stars were out. happened to glance out the window to my right (East) and just above the t reetops I could see very bright red, white, and green li~hts. I questioned my husband as to whether there was an airport near the area, because the lights looked as though it was an airplane with its landing li~ht on coming in for a landing. (We found i n lookin g at the map later that there i s an Akron-Canton airport in the area, but it was quite a bit further south than we were. ) started watchin g the road again and then glanced to the right again and the lights were still at treetop level (about 500 yards to the right-east) . I entioned that it was taking that plane a n awful l ong time to land. I kept watching the lights and they never went any lower. Then. it seemed to drop back and I thou ght then that it was landing. I turned around to watch it and it moved to its left (west) at an angle, like a helicopter wouldonly it didn't teeter like or.e would when it turne d the an~le. It was now flying directlv behind us up the freeway. It was coming closer. Then we thought it was a helicopter checking the traffic because it '~as heavy that night. As I watched it i t seemed to come closer and I t urned the r adio off t o see if t~e could ear propeller noises. Ther e were none. I told my husband to look, and asked hin what he t hou2ht it was. He 2lanced a round as h e wa s drivin~, but COIJldn't see too well an~ sai ~ i t was p robably a heliconter or a n airplan e with neo n advertising on !t. I r easoned why would it be out this lat e and t o what advantaee ~o~l~ a ~lane advertisement be a t this hour of the n i2ltt o v e r a fr eewav ::..a:: most f ::-:.: ca:-s .iere going a:: least 70 ~PH on. I cl!~be~ int~ th~ back seat t o ~et a closer look at it. I t was c l ose enou~h that I .could see i t rot ating from, as I looked a t it, left to right s l owly . At first I couldn' t believe my eyes a nd I asked my husband to look a~ain. He turned around and looked a nd said that ~e had never seen anything like it before. It was in t~e sha pe o f a doughnu t on its side o r a n innertube and had bright red, white and g~een lights on it a nd a small red flashing li~ht i n the middle on top . It didr. t s way from one side to another but followed us a l most at the same S F~ed because it didn't ~et any smaller throu~h the back window. I know the object was t~-:nin~ a s it '"as flying because the colors t~ould change s l owly like colors in the front o f a Juke Box, and you could see all of the colors ~11 of t he time. There was no souMd whatsoever except that coming from our car , I ooened t h e window to t~r t o hear it a n d -nothing. we thc~g~c maybe it was a plane and it thought the freeway wa s a landing strio with all o f the lights on it, but when we talked this over ther e was n o darkness at a l l t o allow for the wings between the li~hts and also the landing light o n a olane is much larger than the wing lights. It follm.red us at the s ame speed f o r abou t 2 minutes, then it veered off t o t h e wesr (at ~n angle) . never going a nv highe r and T lost it ln the t rees. Office of Special Investi~ation, U. S.A.F. Detachment 502 Lincoln Buildin~ Cleveland, Ohio Gen r::.l em en: Kirtland, Ohio I know you probably get hundreds of letterslike this every day, but my curiosity has been getting the best of me. My husband and I were returning home from a trip to Tennessee where we dropped our son off at camp, when we had this situation happen to us. We haven't told anyone because we thought they would think we were mentally unbalanced. tole talked a bout the happening all the way home and weeks aften..rards. The next day, I called the Plain Dealer (not giving my name) and asked i f any UFO's were reported in the area the night before. I also called he ~ed!na Sheriff's Department, but no one had heard anythin~. [ thou~ht f o r sure someone else would have reported what we had seen and that we could varify i t also, but as far as we knew. no one had. am ~ot as~a~ec to tell vou t hat ~e were quLte scared when this I hooe there is some logical explanation for what we saw. It was not a clouc, but somethin~ realistic. I t was somethin~, a nd if you know wha t it was I wish you woulci elea~ let ~ knm.r. Also, we t..rould a poreciate it if you would not let too many oeople know our names.
