Vin~esota R June 1966 I saw my first "flying saucer" tonight. I was coming bac'.< from Midnight Chow at approximately 231.5 hour s and. as is my usual habit, glanced up at the sky on the '~Y back to the birracks. As I climbed the outside stair case on the east end of the building, I looked toward the constellation Cygnus. l':y attention r,;as drawn to 'trhat, at first, thought was a rather bright satellite, but immediately I rloticed that its movement was ver-;t e rratic, and it was "blinking" irregularly. It traveled its erratic path (moving left, ri~ht, and even bac~ards) parallel to a line dra1.rn bett-reen Deneb in Cygnus and Vega in Lyra toward the constellati.on Corona Borealis. I t "hovered" in the imme- diatl3 vjcinity of Corona Borealis for about four minutes, then looked as i f it t>~'l3re gainin g altitude, and at the same time, headed south sou thea3t , and di.::;aqqeare d bebu3an Hercules' right foot and Serpens' The total observeci timA tvas approximately from 2315 to 2325 (I did not hc1 ve a ,;a tch) Thl3 s ". :l:!."S ~ea; the "flring saucer" vrere stationary as it moved right, 1'3ft, and baclcwarcis; there, I do not think the motion was due to atmo spharic c ondi.t.ion3.
