F. o. Investigations Division United States Air Force Jacksonville Air Force Base Gentlemen: I would like to report the tentative sighting of a flying unidentified object at approximately 4:45 A.M. on the mor.ning of April 12J 1966, near Tichnor, Arkansas. we first saw thecio'jecl'l-~wliile' driviug B"outhwtel'a from -~ewi tt on State Highway 130 between 4:45 and 5:00 A.M. Later in the moxning, about 6: 30, -~t appeare-d ... tcrbe-statlonary over (approximately)ection 18, RlW, T65-approxima.tely 9117' ~ongitude and 34 67' Latitude. I am not reporting this as a hoax or for any type of publicity or recognition. Insofar as I know, this should be considered e.s a reliable source of information. I have been working for the Soil Conservation Service, USDA, as a geologist for 8 years. If you wish to check further, I was in Army Intelligence (ASA) from 1 2 t My serial number was RA14439404. MY son, u.s. Navy, serial number 350 78 25, was with me at the made the same observatio~s. We were on our way to LaGrue Bayou for a turkey hunt, and we were both very sober. Driving southward and looking eastward there was a solid cloud cover over that portion of the sky. I suppose the clouds were cirrocumulus or strata- cumulus clouds in a relatively thin, but complete, blanket. Strangely enough, it looked as if there was a bright star be~ween the ground and the cloud cover, almost as high aa the clouds. The cloud blanket was very high, and the atmosphere ~= very clear between the ground and the clouds. We were amazed, tha cloud coverage would have obscured the vision of any star bsyo~d the clouds. Later.on, when we noticed it again at about 6:3J A.M. it was backed by a smaller separate cirrus cloud. The main body of the cloud coverage had broken up by that time It was bright like a star or a light, but too far away to notice any sort of a shape,. and the light from the object was strong and steady. After the sun rose I did not see it again. The light from the object seemed to be somewhat stronger than the light reflected by Venus. The object appeared to be stationary each time we saw it. Had it not been fDD the oloud coverage behind it, I probably would have dismissed it as an unusually bright star or planet. . . is presently on duty in the N.avy on the U.s .s. Prine on. owever, -I live in North Little Rock, Arkansas, and would be glad to answer any questions that you may have about this incident. But please -No publicity. I have no idea of the correct way to present~his case to you through normal procedure, so I have taken the liberty to report it ~this fashion. I do feel that the incedent was-odd enough to justify reporting it. U.F.O.
