Gates, Commander vlisconsin \ling -Civil Air Patrol 700 S. 12th Street vTatertown, vlisconsin 53094 Dear Colonel ~ates: I had a Harinette policeman call me Wednesday evening, }1arch 3oth at 8 : 55 p.m. and report an U.nidentified flying object. The object was flying south at an altitude of something above 5,000 feet. 'fhe object had rotating red and green lights and other colors and seemed to be moving up, dmm, sideways, bacb1ards and fo!"'.-tards as well as forward. It flew in a general southHesterly and southerly direction. The sighting was by a Harvin Erdmann, a patrolman of the Narinette Ci.ty Police Depaitment. He had attended c~urch at St. James Lutheran Church in N.arin~tte and th~ observation was .made of the church, b:~a fireman and by the police man. The man did not kno'"' where to report the UFO, so he called me, a pparently, at the suggestion of someone. I frankly do not know where these reports should be made, tha~ is, \'lhether they should be made to the n earest Air Force base or Area Commander, etc. Perhaps, ~t would be well to determine this and issue instructions to the 1ving membership in your next ',ling bulletin as to where these items might be reported and v1hat data should be reported }'lith them. /,' J V ~ry sincerely yours, Hichael J .A .. ::uta, Lt.
