The following infonnation is presented a. Description of object:- as directed by 20U-2, (star-like), (2) Size: Ccn?)ared to pea held in the hand at about arm's (3) Color: Bright white li^t; sonetimes with flashing rad and green ligit on either side. Fortation: (6) Discernible Features: bright white light dimmed sli^tly periodically. b. Description of Course of Object: (1) Coast Guard personnel were standing routine tower watch, (2) Object reported to be approximately 10 to 20 degrees "disceinible approximately the cjser/ers, (3) The object seemed to only move slij^tly up and down. (4) The object was visible all tl^ while tiie observers were on duty (approximately 2500 to 2400 E5T). c. Iknner of Observation: (1) Ground- visual, from a tower 50 feet hi^\, binoculars d. Tine and Date of Sigliting: Observers: The observers were in a tower (50 feet higli) at Ocracoke Coast Guard Station, N. C. (35-07 north and 75-59 west). Identifying Observers: (1) O'Neal, R. B., HM3, USCG, Ocracoke CGS. (2) Giairiber, C. T. EN2, USCG, Ocracoke CGS, g. U'eatiier and Wiiids: (1) Observers stated that the weather conditions were so unusually clear and still tliat tliey could see the horizon to tiie east. (2) The Cape l-iatteras weather station reported the following Clouds: .= thinly scattered. Visibility; 10 miles. Winds: Surface 020/04 h. Si^jnificant Unusual Condition: The tnusually clear night aLnsst positively accounted for the observers sitting of the Diamond Siioal Li^^it Ship approxLiiately 30 iTviies cast of Ocracoke, SOI Powell, /assistant to the iXity Officer at Coast Guard District #5, 431 Crawford Street, Portsmouth, Virsinia, confirred the existence of the Diamond Shoal Li^^t Ship at 35-05.3 North and 75-19.7 West. SOI Powell also stated tlaat the Diamond SitJai Lii^xt Ship has a 16,000 caiidle power li^t which is riounted 66 feet above tiie \'ater, Tnis ligl\t is nili briglit for 21 seconds and dinimed for 12 seconds.
