Air T~chnical Intelligence Center ~right-Patterson Air For~e Base- llfcKinney, Texa s 75069 August I9, !965 I v1ish to report the sighting of an UFO over this city at on the 7th of this month~August. See attached sketch. T~e UFO was sighted by me at the named. time and date approaching fr the north northwest. Its hei t could only be estimated and se5=ed to be circa 3,000 feet. It showed only as a rather bright w!::!.te light, whethgr :from the sun or by its own illumination I could not be positive. Its speed was far to great for any aircraft~ but not near so fast as the slowest meteor. There was no trail behind ~t. Over the southarn part of this city it made a turn of about 80 degrees to the east. The turn v1as abrupt--n sharp angle. It disappeared to the east, the .-;hole flight observed ta1~ing about I4 se nds. . Besides myself , the UFO \:as sighted by two other observers in th:.s city.; both o: 7/hom ~.sked that their nG.mes not be used b y me~ Eo,;-=-..rer ~ these are on record and if it becomes necessary I sha l l send you their nanes, as per my agreement with them. In the last six months several unidentified flying object s have been reported to me via telephone, but as the observers would not furnish their names I did not report them to you. I have t h em on file though, if you wish them. Two or the reports -4r of a rather terrpyf-ying nature to the observers. I cannot, o f course, vouch for that kind of sightings. tTewspapers, by their flippant attitude, make it most difficult to obtain reliable data on any UFO sighted anywhere. People fear the ri1icule which is sure to be directed at them when they report any ~ir~ of UFO. It c ertainly stalls my own observations by prg- ve~t!~g the securing accurate information on any UFO. I have even had =e~spapers refuse to publish appeals made to the people to hslp verify the sightings of UFOs. -~7111 you please send me y our latest summary of unidentifie d flying objects~ The one I have is rather out of da te. Yours si!'lcerely, I enclos~ tear sheets of UFO sightings over Richardson, fexas, 20 miles sout h of this place, though you doubtless already h nv e this ir~o.
