The same morntK June 24, I discussed this !u~her with Chief Radar~an Warren Nielsen, Ret., who lives on TTash1ngton Island but teached Radar 1n the East during the school year. He explained some or this phenonena, (the buqy from the Escanaba area), as t~e bending or light rays over the ~ater as a possiblity During the day 1-1e also bean! a report or a huge barn tire in the Sturgeon Bay area whicb also is some distance to t ':e south over open water. Whether th1a accounted tor t he tire-like sighting on water level I have no idea. On Friday June 2S, 1965 Mr. Nielsen h-'ard over t,he news on radio from Marinette, Wisconsin t i1at an additional simUar sighting had been 22)0 Thursday June 24 1n the area or Escanaba, Michigan. Both he and the Chief, rtry wire am I discussed this further. The Chief said they had searched the area in small craft during the daylight hours of the day I made tn;- report, Thursday June 24, to no avail. All was reported in the log book on Plwn Islarxi, according to the Chief, I told them or my conversation to Truaz Field. We have made an attampt to sketch the objects as seen, plus the slides enclosed for your evaluation.
