COMMENTS Four moving lights observed in Eastern sky. Motion from South to North. Elevation 15-30 Reddish orange glow and were somWbat like Roman candles. Not very large, motion irreg11lar. Lead ing ~ght pulled far ahead of the others and twc of the rear lights almost converged. Leading light turned East when 1 t reached North. Lights visible for 3-4 minutes. No noise. Three Possib~ a/c sigbtings with distortion to unusual atmospheric condtions. II No sound would be audible due to dis- tance of obj from observers. No data presented to indicate that the sight- ing could NOT be attributed to a/.c w1 tnessea. . FOR THE COMMANDER Lt Colonel, USAF Chiet, CI Division 1. Affidavit, 2. Atfidavi t HQ USAF (AFISIIC) w/2 atch THE STATE OF OHIO CUYAHOOA COONTY being first duly swom deposes and says: en Thursday, May 21. 1964, I was camping w1 on the North shore of Lake McCoy in Qlta.rio Canada. Lake McCoy is approximately forty miles North and is somewhat to the East of Wb1 te River Ontario. ~ camp was about a m1 le or a mile and one-half' f'rom the East end of' the Lake. On the evening of Thursday, May 21. 1964., Messrs IJ.J.e!a. my attention to four moving lights which were visible in the Eastem sky. The lights were apparently moving from South to North and were between 15 and 30 f'rom the horizon. They gave off' a. reddish or orangish gl.ow and the baJ J s of light had a texture some- thing like a Ranan Ca.ndl.e. The lights were not very large and moved in an irregular manner with the leading light pulling far ahead of' the other three lights and the last two lights eJ most converging. It appeared to me that the leading light turned to the East when it reached the Northern sky but in any' event shortly thereafter the lights were obscured frau view by low clouds. The lights were probably visible for three or four m1 nutes. There was absolutely no noise. ~1 l three of us observed this phenomenon and agreed as to what we had seen. We had observed earlier tha.t the atmosphere was such that at various times there were rings of light around the moon. We believe that this was a consequence of the formation of clouds between us and the moon. This is mentioned simply because if the lights which we saw were planes, their eerie appearance may be explainabl.e on the basis of atmospheric conditions. The sighting occurred at about 11:15 P.M., EDr. After the sighting, two groups of four planes each, which we assumed to be mul.ti-engine jet aircraft, flew over our camp almost directly overhead. Subsequently we heard two other flights which we assumed a.lso contained f'our mul.ti ... engine jet aircraft each . The facts stated therein are an accurate descri:9tion of my 0'\m observation on that I Hould supplement the !davit by stating that as the last two lights almost converged, the fourth moved to a position anparently vertically above the third. In this respect, as in others, the most striking thing to me about the lights was the seemingly erratic manner in \rhich they moved 'nth respect to each other .. By ,.ray of describing the size of the lights, I ,.,ould also add that the lights were not large, :perhaps resembling stars iTi th ''feathered out': edges. It appeare~ that except for the assumed atmospheric condition to 'Hhich l4r mere points or dots. S\fORN TO before me and subscribed in my presence this ~.' . I s. day of l~y, 1964.
