At 1030Z Missile Site 6., Altus, Oklahoma reported a large bright light (size of a/c) overhead., 000' directly over silo. Light was bright enough to light silo cap. Reported to people in silo, and crew silo conmander sent a maintenance man wo saw light and verified it being there. By the time he got there it bad moved to an extremely high altitude. Missile Site 7 Altus AFB, Oklahoma., Sunrise 0528 am at 35 degrees N beginning of twilight 0341 am. Time of' sighting 1030Z 0430m. Brightness in sky, size of large a/c under 10,000 f't. Alt was estimated by hiib thin clouds. No features, light only. Rose straisbt up at fast rate. Duration 10+. Motion was to Northwest. AlC Somera saw ~or 1! minutes at !1>5 ieg elevation. There vas no change in size nor e:ay change in color. It faded into the distance disappearing. 'lhere were no features other than light. A3C Davis first saw obj (light) had a magnitude of' 2X N Star. This report; submitted in accordance with AFR 200-2, gives information on the object observed over Altus Auxiliary Site Number 7 on 21 May 64 at approximately 1030Z. , a. Description of object: basketball held at arms length .. (6) A3C Davis compared the object to a street lamp, six to eight in diameter. (7) None observed. (8) None heard. (9) No other unusual features. b. Description of course of object: (1) A3C Davia south fence of Site 7. brightened up the sky. first noticed an unusual light hovering over the { size of the light first attracted h~ as it (2) It appeared due south of the silo cap, at an angle of approxi- mately 45 degrees elevation. Airman Davis then went over to the LCC <ry and phoned the LCC. AlC Sumera was sent topside fnnediately and observed the object !Still hovering over the site. A3C Davis called. me in the Launch Control Center and reported sighting the object. Being unable to leave the LCC, I immediately sent AlC Sumera topside to check this out.
