Struwe, Chief, Base Operations and Training Division, Otis Air Force Base. Preparing officer was driving on highway 3, approximately 7 miles east of sighting at time of initial report. Nothing unusual was noticed. The weather was clear, visibility unrestricted and an occasional wisp of fog was encountered. The last report submitted by Mr. may have been a star. The Air Almanac of an object at 270 degrees listed a bright star on that Radar scan of the general area was made by RAPCON. No unknown targets were observed. by five scanners on a EC-121 aircraft. Boston Search The area was also checked Comments of reporting officer are purely conjective, but it is felt that stars were the objects sighted 2 Atch KENNETH W. STRUWB Major, USAF 1. Statement by Airdrome Officer Chief, Base Operations and Training Division 2. Map of Area SUBJECT: Reported UFO 1. At approximately 0103t, a Mr. from North Carver called to report an UFO. He described the o ject _, having 3 revolving beacons (as opposed to flashing or Grimes type), one red, one green and one blue. In addition to the this object, three (3) smaller ones in step formation trailed behind and had the same description as the larger item. This group were supposed to be moving s l owly the horizon until the smaller three (3) disappeared behind the trees. This formation was located SW of Carver. Mr. reported during bis initial call, he had observed this gtoup (Estimated Altitude 5000'-6000') for 20 or 30 minutes and was sure they were not aircraft of any type he bad ever seen. At 0120t, the Base Operator was instructed to transfer the call to WOC. WOC diverted HOMEY 68 to the area in question, but aircraft did not note anything unusual. Mr. called back and stated that the air craft had flown between his (Mr and the object's position. I asked him if the aircraft's rotating beacon was similar? He s tated that to him the aircraft had a flashing light. He further stated that aircraft beacon was much smaller than the objects' lights. Mr. stated the object SW was still there and mentioned a . second object due west of his position. (By this time, Mr. had obtained a Navy compass). After the first call, we checked with Boston Search, Control Tower, RAPCON, etc., for possible information Boston Search contacted Stat~ Police which in turn contact local police, who confirmed the objects but did not identify them. At 015lt, I went to the Tower to observe for myself. The Tower then called an aircraft in local area and asked if they would mind flying in the local area for any unusual sighting. The aireraft reported he could see nothing out of the ordinary. At 0225t, Base Operations received another call from Mr. stating that he had spotted a third : object, also in the same general area and confirmed by the police. 2. Other Factors: a. Tower and Falmouth Police reported shooting star at 0030t, b. There was a helicopter flying in vicinity of Carver (Tower contaet with it) (Quonset verified all their helicopter were on the ground). e. Several groups of stars and/or planets were visible l ow on the horizon at the approximate heading given by Mr 551.
