Object scintillated and appeared t o emit rays. (2) Lar6er and brighter than star . (4) Mrs. reported seeing only one lighti there were tw~ similar to automobile headlights. (5) Not applicable. b. Description of Course of Object: (1) Mr. stated he noted object shining through tree tops. (2) Obje~t appeared to be about 25 feet above ground in West. (3) Same as above. ( 4) Appeared to move toward \~est (5) Object appeared to fade gradually as it moved westward . (6) Visible about one hour. c. Manner of Observation: (1) Ground-visual. (2) No aids used. Object first sighted from living room on ground floor; observation continued from window on second floor. Second sighting from same location. f. Identifying Information on Observers: Mr. and Mrs. 12-year old daughter Although a friend told Mr. and l-1rs the object might Jupiter, they believed that the object was sufficiently unusual to report. g. Weather and \olinds: (2) AWS forecaster, clear both nights; winds Scott AFB, Illi nois, stated that weather was on 1 May were 4-8 knots, on 3 ~ 5-10 knots. {3) Unlimited except for some atmospheric ha ze and pollution. (7) Some temperature inversion due to rapid decrease in ground temperature. h. Any other unusual activity or condition: Planets Jupiter and Venus were both in vicinity of objects sighted. AWS Solar Branch felt that on basis of information furnished, the object could be either planet, but more likely was Venus. i. Interception or Identification Action Taken: None. j. A check was also made with AWS Weather Forecaster and Solar Branch at ScQtt.AFB.
