Total sighting time 20-25 min. Motionless dull yellow lights fad- ing on & off. Appeared to be fairly close to observer & described as a ripg: of lights. They moved to the sE slowly. Obsvation fm slow moving car heading toward obj. Obj in West. Told wife abou~ pbj and wife rptd seeing same thing. Went out three times. Obj would disa~ pear for about 30 seconds. Red upon disappearance. MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD UFO Sighting Ravenn~ Ohio 2 January 1963 n 4 January 1963 FTD received a ne call ) from Wednes ay, observed an of Akro~ Ohio. January 1963, Mr. unidentified flying r eported that on of Ravenna, Ohio The object was in view for 20 to 25 minutes, and the time of the sighting was 6:00 PM. The object was motionless, had dull yellow lights, faded on and off, and was surrounded by a ring of light. The object moved slowly to the southeast and was fairly Mr. was in a car driving toward the object. When he arrive d home, he found that his wife had seen the object from their home. The object, observed in the west, was about star size, fuzzy, round, and remained stationary for t e n minutes. The flight was not steady. The object faded out thre~ times remaining out for 30 seconds the-first two times. The third time it faded, it did not reappear (it was high). Described as tinfoil scattered over wide area of farmland. COMMENTS Report of chaff, ming radar. used in jam- cal len to raport ti':e follo,ting : While out hunting he noticed small strips of tin foil scattered over.,a r,d.de area of farm land. H3 was curious at tha time, but did not collect any samples of the materialo He became more curious and cfuncerned when he read that British bomber s had penetrated our air defenses, and thought that p'3rhaps the foil strips were some type of British radar jamming mat~rial. He contacted the CAP vrho suggested that hs collect soma samples and notify F'ID. returned to the scene, but a recent snoN fall had canceled th~ foi l fo~ the time bair.g.
