Dear Sirs: I do not know whether you are the proper authorities to inform or not, but here goes On the evening of July 16th, I noticed a small bright object in ttte sky. Observi11g it with a pair of 7 x 50.binoculars, I surruised it was anotl1er one of those 100' diameter balloons. When it was directly overhead, it disap,Jeart'd fro!lt view. I figured the angle ,,oul u not permit the suns rays to be transmitted to earth also that would be the last we would see of it. rhe next night oa t of curios it~, .ny brothers and nep)1ews l voked up in the sk~, same time and place. rhere it \Vas again. Look in~ :l t it \Vi t !1 the binoculars and a 60 power telescope, we could see about eight to fifteen pieces of rocket debris floating :llong witl1 it. We observed this balloon for fotlr nights, last being seen I would say it w:ls about 8 t ... Q miles in space, because it was at least three times smaller than the one I saw previously, w~ich the papers said was about 450 miles out Usually, a balloon shot only lasts for a day. Being that this one lasted for four days, we thought, you would like to know. Any other information pou would like to kno~, we will be glad to give you. Would also appreciate an answer to confirm the receipt of this leLter. r11ank you Air Proving Ground Center, Eglin AFB, Fla., 15 August 1960, : UFO Slglting 1st Ind (DO) 19 August 1960 Hq 2500 AB Wg, Mitchel AFB, NY TO: ATIC, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio 1.
