The er..act circwnstanc e s were as follovw: I was \ialking uown Cam~:-idge Avenue. a ztreet which leads so\.~th. fro:n the campus of Adelphi College, and runs along the edge of a golf coarse which adjoins Adelfhi':J co.mp~, this gol f course bFJine; to the east of Cambridge Avenue. About 'CI.vO b l oc!-:s do.m from the rear exit of the campus, at a point irhere an Eas t -tc- ,lcst street c alled Terrace Avenue joins Cambridge Avenue (:f'o:c clarification, see a~coo,::>d.!lylnG rough map), I stopped for a moment to ad..rnire the starry niL;ht sky (it was already dark; there were .few if any clouds and no fog o r haze, uu1for~anately I do not remember if there was nny ooon, but I think there was not) . It wa s then that I noticed, toward the east or e~st northeast. aboL:t 20 above the horizon, apparently above a point east of the gol .f . cour3e, an irregularly waxing and l-Taning, never 'Very bright and never completely extinguished, generally white or yellowis h - \-lhi te but occasi::mall y bluish or perhaps even f aintly greenish, point of lieht, 'Which I observed t o be slowly and err at i ca.ll y climbing. I just v ery barely could, and I am not quite certain on this point -see a hint of a dark forrn behind i t . watched it for about three to five minutes, .,.hile it climbed to a h e i ght of perhaps 300. Durin8 this interval of time, several ordinary airplanes passed by, making t!leir 0\m noise, so I could not be sure whether the unknown 1Jl-9.de any sound -though I did seem to hear, in bet~t1een the airp lane 9.nd traf:'ic noises, and sae:ningly corning frorn the directio n of the u~mm.n, a faint whirring or droning sound, or a sort of low pulsation. There was no e;Oaust, no other unknQl.-ill object oc objects appeare d there was no odor, no materials or objects fell of emanated from i t , so f a r as I could After watching a few minutes -during which. so f a r att I could tell, no one else noticed tht3 object - I continued on my uay home. About ten o r fif~een minutes l ater -I live onl y a f e w blocks from the place of the sighting -I arrived home, and before going in, and too k one more las t lo~k a t the ENE sh-y.
