An RHAF pilot flying naar Volos, Greece, an F84G a t 43,000 feet dateoted contrails southward over Volc3 at abou~ 55~000 Contrails veered to ~(NE, then disappeared northward. Pilot estimktes speed of unknown a~rcraft as 500 knots. He informed radar stations on sighting tha contrails and was in communication with a radar site ~hile obaerving the unknown. Although radar was able to track the RHAF aircraft nd radar contact was obtained on the unkno\vn aircraft.
