The tolloving on concerning an unidentified fiying object in this filter center area is submitted in accordance with inatructione c d in AFR 200.2, dated ) February 1958: (1) Shipe - Round. (2) Size compared to a known object -One tenth the size ot a dime, held in the hand at about arm's length. The observer also c the object's size to a b shot fran a large "roman candle." (3) Calor -Bright, fiery orange. (h) Number -One (1). (S) Formation -Not applicable. ( 6) At17 discernible features or deta1 J a -The observer said the object looked like a ball or tire, or bright, fiery light, orange in color and vas travelling at a nigh rate or speed. He comnented that the object appeared to be tar in the distant east, maybe 50 miles away. The observer further stated that he did not know if the object might be a satellite, a nose-cone tran a missile or what. He did not believe it was a meteor since he did not think meteors acted in the manner of the object he observed. However, he admitted never having actualj y seen a meteor nor did he have any technical or theoretical background in astronomy or meteoroloa. (7) Tail, Trail or Exhaust -The Observer stated the object appeared to have a to it and, assuming it was t inch in diameter, the tail would oe one (1) inch in length. (6) Sound -None.
