Chicago ARTC corttacted by Capt Bes--t. on P-0 Dec stated there l;ere no ot.."ler r eport regarding the sighti.ng exce:it the one from Iftr. Rice Conc1.usion: The interviewer beJ ieves that 'the B-47s could have crossed the flight path o:r the F-86 at ona t~ in the general area. or the sighting. Considering the eetr]3 hour or the day it appears probable that the B-47s contrail.s were illundnated ba the ri3ing sun rrom below and behind. This could have appeared to the F-86 pilot to have been an UmlSUal phenomena. I realize that the B-47 s 't1ere at about 33 ~rhile the F-86 was at about h4,ooo, however, the pilot stated that the day uas ver-.r clear 8.!"\d there were no cblds whatsoever. These conditionsJ would have resulted in the sighting being observed b;r other people in addition to the pi~ot. Considering lack of such avidence and the relative angles or the F-86 to the B-47s cont!'ails and the rising sun thi3 conclusion appears most propable CL.ASSIFICAT IOH (SECURI T Y INFORMATION when lilted in) SUPPLEMENT TO AF FORM 112 ORIGINAT I NG AGENCY REFORT NO.
