No Case (Informatioa Only) 15 October 1957 Bernardsville, New Jersey was :ri%11 home , N.J. She was miles from Bernards- ville al1d had just turned Route 202 into North. Maple Avenue which . runs south to Basking Ridge.. At that . her attention was auddenl7 attracted by an ex-. t ly brilliant golden-yellow light to her left, "aa large as two fused head:- Her tirst impression was that an airplane with landing lights on was coming right at her. She stopped and rolled down the window; no sound could be heard. Some Black Angus cattle were grazing in the field; the light wu beyond them, but she could not estimate ita distance. .It was wall above the ground, though she was onlJ' certain ot this the next morning, when she inspected the rita . , by daylight, and noted that there was no hill or tower in that direction. Its direction was east-northeast, exactly oppos~te to Venus (with which, besides, Mrs. Simms is perfectly familiar; this light, she says, was incomparabl7 larger and more co , ' though still r than the lull moon.) It' seemed to 110bble, but this mq been illuaor.r. Arter watching tor five minutes, she started up and d%'0Ve on The light ned visible, apparentl7 in the place (now being lett behind her.) Near Iqons, three miles to the south, she stopped watched it, again. it appeared in the north-noxtheast, smaller, but still lar~ enough to see that it had apparemly tUtedz it presented a 1 crescent comex , with a rounded portion (perhaps the lonr surface) the crescent.. She drove over thehill and lost sight of it. . .. . Evaluatron- tJw a & No Case (Information Only) latter October 1957 South Lee, Massachusetts "THIHGS' THAT ao BUMP IN THE l~IGHT The reader Will have noticed that the .November 19S7 sighting wave in the U~S., :. like the Fall 19S4 wave in France, has been markod.by numerous;reports of landings,' with and without occupants. The s~eptic who disbelieves all ot these stories . since, along with similarities, the stories show differences of unexpected details 1: that call for considerable powers or invention. 1'ake, tor example, the story told by Mr. and Mrs. Beverly Potter, of South Lee, Nass., who tolero i!'\terviewed at their t: home by the Reverend Albert Baller of. Qreent1e~d attar WBRK (r-ittsf'ield) broadcast, 1. on Nov. 6, Mrs. Potter's account; of the experience, l'thich ha.ci. tuken place about two! , weeks before. The following comes chiefly from Hr. Ba.ller. s latter about his talk Between 2 and ) a.m. the Potters w~re awakened by a noise like a jet about to ~ land -trbut not really like a jet, either." Looking out or their bedro~m .windaw, . they saw the back yard illuminated by light that came ArO\uU the corner.or the:hous~: from a source that was then invisible. The lighted area went bright and dim, brigq~ and th13y could see three da!."k figures moving around, that "kept bumping into things and making a lot or racket." The "jet'' noise ~ad been replaced by a . .; . high-pitched whinin~ sou.."ld; "it ~aae my head acne all tha .. time," Mrs. Potter --~id. : "After a while' Nr. Potter shouted at the nt;hing~' to go away, and they ran behind a shed. About then, the source of the light moved around the corner of the house. ~ It was "a kin=i of floatin~ thing, about two feet !rom the ground and about si~!feet ; I f'rom the ground at the top." It was "sort or without aey sharp or clear shape~ but ~ gave out light in front o it and ur.der it; i~ was dark behind 1t. The figures ; "moved away, and 'the object moved orr "up the hill," then into the sky. In the ! morning the Potters found the high grass in the next fi.eld matted down, objects near ; I the shed kicked ovar, and a shovel broken. Mr. Baller was impressed by the way the ; observers told their stor,y, and by its agreement in all essentials with the tape ot , the radio interview. A cop,y or this tape is being made for CSI. Report,s of physical distress seemingly caused by the proxinii ty of a UFO, like . Mrs. Potter s headache that went a"tT~.y \orhen the nobject" leftl are not absolutely - unique; but the blundering about, .a:~ it in the dark, z:ny be. the first report of' its : kind. (Note: Our remarks in the first pnragraph are not to be taken as indicating, -: that CSI accepts this report, or any other in this issue, at present.
