Hr. made notes of the occurrence but did not report it until 8 Oct- 2 . l1r. was conducting a ground check of the APS-64, which is a component of the MA- 7 bombing system of a B-47, when 9e noticed a return at approximately ?O miJes ran&~-traveling at an estimated ~!uOOO miles per hour f rom North to South. He f..Q.llowed the return for 3. seconds at which time .it disappeared_in the ~enter of tbe scope. He did not observe it beyond that point. 3. Because the reported sighting was made on a radar set in an aircraft on the ground and because the ticu1Ar r adar set norma))y w rec ctions from objects bel ow it, the probability that Mr. bserv fr object is extremely remote. It is believed more likely that he observed a ma)function in the set or some other radar phenomenon; however, he stated that he conducted further ~becks on the set and could find nothing wrong with it. 4.
