UniQentified Flying Objects, ~ashington 25, D.C., Gentlemen: I thirut it is my duty to in!orm you that on JLme 12,1957 here in Milan, Italy, at 1 9 :30 (Central Europ-ean Time ) I was scanning the sky through my field 3lasses to follow the course of the last low fast sailin3 clouds over the city ater a heav-J storUI with stro::13 wind (7/8 313a.ufort' s scale) hail and rain. section of sky I was loo;!ing included the 'Nest, North and East parts. The 3ast !)art in -particular was exceptional- ly clear. Suddenly a bri&~t point co~ing fro~ ~ast and go- ing west~a~d a?"Peared through t~e field ~la3ses. This point followed a zigza3 pa~h at hi3h s9eed for a few seconds, lowered ova:;:-~he city, became as big as a hen's egz and then stopped . The estimate altitude w~s 6 ,000 feet. I noted the t~e on my wrist watch : it was 1 9 :41. The unidentified object was very bright (green-yellow in color) d a~paren~ly revolving upon its axis. 17 minute s later it swerved toward the upper atmospher e leaving t~o whi~e-orange trails of vapor and 1isa?)eared.
