I t appeared t o be moving from a South to llort.'-1 directio:l at. a very high r:1ta ot speed. When first seen by this observer, it3 azimuth \'f&~ es- ti~ted at appr~ataly 50, and this flame c ontinued until nearly a 5 or 10 aziouth was reached. Immediately following this flame, and in it3 place s a bluish, gaseous type cloud which ~as nearly halt the lentb of the name. Imm~diately belO"W the er.d of the fl3.lle and cloud, a da~k obj~ct ~as seen to descend earthward at the same trajec~ory The entira performa~e was at a split-second speed, f~ster than a."lything ever seen by this observer. Uy crew although they did not S d e tr.e nash, were able to follow th3 cloud-typa trail, and 11e expected t o see the dark object hit in the adjacent Great Salt Laka or a t leas~ t:a sho~ i'!nmadiately North or the e sti!catad position. In the resultant search, our aircraft trav~ling at a near 300 ~PH tr.;e airspe9d, could not reach the cloud trai l no:-see a.:ny evider.ce of an ob~ect having struck the ground. The Hill A.FB tower was notified i !DDediately and an extended search of the area by the undersigned revealed little else. It 13 the opinion or this observer that he saw a ~teorite ot better t..,an aver&'! size traveli~ at a rata of soeed so ,great u to preclude the oossibili ty ot its bei:1g aeything else. Also, the distance trom t:~ phenomenon indicated ~he size and brilliance, and i3 the r~ason for not being able to see a~ evidence of this object strikj ng the ground in this area.
