Gentler.1en: The picture on page 4 o~ today's WashinBton News of V" f'orinnt1ona of unidentified obJects photogr aphP.d over Lubboc k , Tex., l &at Augu~t recalls to me a stmila r phe~atn enon that ca~e int o my ltne of vision a s I stood in my yard recently looking a t the t elevision entenne attached to the chimney of my house. 'l'he experience sbout which I tun \vri tinG occurred either two or three Soturdnys ac;o ( March 22 or 29) i n the middle of' the day. I kept these obJects in s ight vbout one minute. W!len these obJects YJere first sighted I \'.ns end c little north a t an epgle between 45 Bn d 60 the ground. Tl1e objects eppeared to be traveling gazing Vie s t deri ree s \':1 th se obJect s were in a flat formation. The two lines of the "v" dld not remain ctralght but appeared to flutte r as though so1~e or the obJects, but not adJacent ones, were continually dropping slightly behind the others, then catching up ~1th the main group. Th e bbJects appeared gray in color end oval in shRpe. The size and speed of these objects and the distance from me v.'ould be entirely a matt e r of Judgment that coul d b e badly distorted by misjudging any one of tl1ese factors. I was 1rnpresr.ed by the e.p9srent great h e 1t;ht of the formation - I thought at least two miles. I could not readily distingui s h thA individual obJects . If my Judgment o f the d istance i s enything like accura t e , t h e speed of the formation ~as fas t e r than a Je~ 'plane. It still a ppeared to be at e great nltitude when it faded from my stght in the distance. I em employed by the Inters t ate Cotninerce Co mtai s sion. Yours truly,
