The following ia a phfaioal deeoription of the Gray Gooaet UNC1!ASS1F1Eil UNCLA55lf1EO CAIDHELL, et al -24-1! !he Gray Goo had an oTerall length ot approximately 14 tt., with a rather conTentional-type fuaelage. A 9-cylinder, 46 horaepower French engine (Someraon?) waa mounted on a conTen tlonal front fuselage en~ine mount, driTing a conTentional two-blade wooden propeller. The model had no winza, but poaaibly had atabiliaing airfoil located in the general wing poaitlon. Tr~ fuselage waa a aingle cockpit, tricycle land ing gear affair, with a high aquare Tertical stabiliaer and arced rudder. A spring ateel tail ald.d waa mounted to the rear bottom of the fuaelage, and aome type of horizontal ata bilizera were attached to the fuaelago near the conventional poaitioo. Theae horizontal atabilizera appeared to be mounted away from the fuaelage on an "A "type frame, and one informant atated that the innmtor had "orne type of a crazy rig as far aa aileron were concerned." The cockpit contained an alti- meter, a tachometer, &D oil presaure guage. a ruel preaaure suage and three blank instrument apacea. The fuaela~e oon.truotion conaiated of three-quarter inch welded steel ttib- ing. coTered with aircraft fabric. f.!ounted on a tripod above the tuaelage waa a diak, approximately 14 ft. in diameter. thia diak reaembled two dinner plate a face to face, w1 th a winder cord ot 12" and an outer cord or 6". The diak waa built or reinforced plywood, atripped with aluminum on the edgea and coTered with aircraft fabric. A center revolving xle waa controlled by an expander-type brake. Four airfoil bladea, approximately a rt. in length and 12" in width nre attached to the cardinal point of the diaka.
