On 12 September 194d, in an interview with Rev- erent , Oakland , Californi~, the following information wa s ascertaineda On J.Ionaay, 1 AuGust 1949, at approxLmate l y 1430 hours, PST, Reverend , while riding on a commercial passenger fishing boat approaching the Golden Ga te, sighted aix ( 6 ) or ~ore objects appenrine to be in formation anu travelin~ at a speed ::Jlower than that of a jet aircraft. These oo jects were oval in shape, at an undetermined altitude, at a dis- tance l aterally of o9proximately ten (10 ) miles, ann at an Gle of elevation from the horizon of approxim~tely 55 . '1-erone.utics ~"uthority (c. \.) revealed that there are one hundred sixty-one (151) lis ted air carriers in the Bay Area, San Francisco, California.. Fourteen (14) or the listed air c~rriers operate on regular schedules a nd less than one (1) percent of the rer,taining carriers file an:r type of flight plan or clsarance, consequently it is impossible to deter- mine the existence of any known aircraft in the area 44 x 15 '~'r, 2. On 10 October 1949 a check of the San Fr3ncisoo and Oakland, California l":unicipal h.irports revealed tha t less t han one (1) percent of the aircraft normally using these air ports tile any type of flight 9lan or clearance, consequentl y it is impossible to determine the existence of any knovm aircraft in ).
